Empowering Climate Action Through Education: Climate Fresk Training at THG LABS
July 16, 2025
Earlier this summer, members of THG LABS’ Eco Leadership team undertook Climate Fresk UK training – a powerful, data-driven workshop that transforms the latest findings from the IPCC report into an accessible and collaborative learning experience.
The Climate Fresk methodology centres around systems thinking: helping participants draw the connections between human activity and climate disruption through an interactive, card-based game. Guided by trained facilitators, the sessions are designed to decrypt the science, understand the effects/implications and trigger action by highlighting both the scale of the challenge and the solutions within reach.

Following their own facilitator training, Eco Leadership representatives Sam Perry and Molly Lobdell have begun rolling out Climate Fresk workshops across THG LABS. Teams from multiple departments have already taken part, with more sessions scheduled in the months ahead.
“As well as presenting the facts," says Sam, "Climate Fresk creates space for reflection and dialogue. It’s prompted some honest and empowering conversations about what we’re already doing and what more can be done, individually, through government and as a business that is part of a global industry.”
While the subject matter is undeniably serious, the workshops have generated optimism and momentum. Participants have praised the sessions for helping them connect the dots between different aspects of sustainability, and for reinforcing the idea that meaningful change often starts with awareness of our on contribution and a shared purpose.

“The science can be overwhelming,” adds Molly Lobdell, “but Climate Fresk makes it digestible, and more importantly, it makes it actionable.”
This initiative forms part of a wider commitment from THG LABS to embed sustainability into every facet of its operations, from ingredient sourcing and energy efficiency to packaging innovation and waste reduction. By investing in education and systems literacy, we are equipping our people to become active contributors to a more sustainable future.
More sessions are planned throughout the year, with the aim of bringing Climate Fresk training to every team, site, and level of the organisation. Because as the workshops make clear, climate action is a responsibility that belongs to each of us, a collective effort which starts with the right knowledge.
