THG LABS at the BBIA Demeter Awards: Celebrating Bio-Based Innovation

November 20, 2025

Kristal Goodman Joins the Panel to Discuss the Future of Sustainable Materials

The BBIA Demeter Awards are one of the only UK platforms dedicated entirely to recognising innovation in the bio-based economy, spanning renewable materials, sustainable chemistry, biotechnology and next-generation manufacturing. The awards were created to spotlight organisations driving meaningful progress towards a lower-carbon, circular future – a mission closely aligned with the work we champion at THG LABS.

This year, Kristal Goodman, Head of Product Innovation at THG LABS, was invited to speak as a panellist at the event, contributing insight on how bio-based ingredients in products and packaging are shaping the next era of beauty innovation. Her participation reflected the increasingly important role that responsible ingredient sourcing, bio-manufacturing, and science-driven product development play in the future of the cosmetics industry.

Recognising Clean Food Group’s Win and Advancing the UK Bioeconomy Together

It was also a proud moment to be there in person to celebrate our partners Clean Food Group, who were awarded Start-Up of the Year for their pioneering work in fermentation-derived oils. Their win highlights the momentum behind alternative ingredient technologies and reinforces the value of collaborative innovation across the supply chain. As a formulation and manufacturing partner working closely with Clean Food Group to help scale their technology for the beauty sector, we were delighted to witness their achievement on such a respected stage.

The event as a whole underscored the strength of the UK’s bioeconomy – and demonstrated how beauty product developers and full-service manufacturers like THG LABS can play a pivotal role in bringing sustainable, bio-based solutions from lab to commercial reality for global beauty brands.
