Hands-On Insight Into Emerging Ingredients
and Formulation Trends

Chemists Beth and Márcia from our R&D team headed to London this week for the Chemyunion Haircare Innovation Event – a salon-set showcase packed with cutting-edge ingredients, new technologies and forward-thinking formulation concepts shaping the future of haircare.

The day offered a uniquely immersive format, with Chemyunion transforming the space into a live, working salon. Our team took part in real-time product demonstrations, ingredient deep dives, and technical sessions exploring the science behind next-generation actives designed to elevate hair performance, texture and resilience.

A Practical, Experiential Look at Next-Generation Haircare

Beyond presentations, the event stood out for its hands-on approach. Beth and Márcia completed personalised visual hair assessments, allowing them to experience how targeted formulations respond to individual hair needs – from scalp sensitivity, hair loss and hydration to compatibility, split ends, breakage and frizz.

A highlight of the day was the opportunity to formulate their own bespoke haircare products, using Chemyunion’s latest functional ingredients, sensorial modifiers, and performance-driven actives. This interactive element offered valuable insight into how these materials behave in real-world salon conditions and how they can be applied within THG LABS’ own beauty product development pipelines.
